A Day At The Movies: Toy Story 3

First off.  If you haven’t seen Toy Story 3, go see it.  Period.  This is a must watch movie, especially if you are around my age, and have grown up with the Toy Story franchise.  We’re right along with Andy, the main character.  Actually, we’re a bit older than he is now for some reason, I think he should have gone off to college a couple of years ago…anywho.  That’s what’s going on in this movie.  Andy’s going to college, and his little sister is taking his room.  So he’s got to decide what to keep, and what to get rid of, i.e. his toys.  Through a certain whacky process of animated movie hijinks, all of the toys end up at Sunnyside Daycare down the street, and everything is great, until the discover that the daycare is actually domineered by a cuddly soft tyrant who smells of strawberry and goes by the name of Lotso.  So, as movies go, our friends and heroes have to figure out a way to escape this horrible place, and get back to Andy.

This movie is awesome.  I saw it in 3D, and it of course looked brilliant.  Could we really expect anything else from Pixar?  My internship this summer is at an animation company in Beijing, and here I’ve learned a lot more about the process of making an animated feature film, and that has really brought me to appreciate them even more.  For example, from start to finish it takes no less than four years to make a film like “Toy Story 3.”  Yes, FOUR YEARS.  And Pixar used these years well, to make a great film!  After watching it, one of the things that impressed me the most were the action sequences with the toys.  I mean, it’s animated, so they can do just about anything, but the way that they use the different characteristics of each individual toy is brilliant.  What Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head could do, what Woody and Buzz could do, and what the Slinky Dog could do was awesome.  And the movie is SOOOO funny!  The old characters, the new characters, what have you.  Anywho, I could seriously go on for way to long right about now.  Just check out the movie.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Hit up the website here to learn about the movie and characters.  Enjoy.
